One of the best and most useful gifts I've ever received has been the Burley Nomad bike trailer. I've had this trailer for nearly 4 years now and absolutely love it. In fact sometimes I attach it to my bike and pull i just for the heck of it. I should also add that all my bikes and this trailer have names which I generally use in conversation. There's Gerry, as in "Jerry the Giant" (Giant Seek 0), Rocky(Rocky Mountain Soul) and of course Burley. I realize these names aren't all that imaginative but i usually go with the first thing that comes to my mind (and rhymes somewhat) when I name a new bike,.....or a bike trailer. So the Burley Nomad trailer quickly became known as "Burley" which i will use for the rest of this blurb.
I never planned to ride my bike in the winter. That is, I never said to myself, "Hmmmm,..it's freezing out and there might be flurries of snow, I think i'll ride my bike to work today". No, it just happened. I used to be a person who when i saw someone riding a bike in the winter thought they were crazy. Common sense tells us that a bicycle and winter equal cold, it can't be any other way. But it is, it's one of those times when common sense is turned on it's head.
So my doctor tells me that my cholesterol is way too high. OK, I can accept that. But what was that 2nd sentence? Did you say I need to give up my good friend "Maple Bacon" and up my daily intake of fruits and veggies? Sigh. A quick look at the Canada Food Guide says a person needs 5 to 7 servings a day of fruits and vegetables. 5 to 7 servings!!! Is that even possible? Well I found it is possible but it helps if you start with one of these each morning,..4 servings all in one blast. And don't let the Spinach scare you off, I guarantee all you can taste is banana, strawberry and blueberry. I'm hooked on them and you should be too!
Why are they called Breakfast Cookies when they really should be called Banana Oatmeal Cookies? It started as a joke because I used to boast that these cookies were so healthy that I could eat them for breakfast. Now I don't endorse them as a 'breakfast food' but I have been known to eat the odd one with my morning coffee. And I can't really say that a cookie with shortening and lots of sugar is really healthy but they do have oatmeal, banana, flax seed and sunflower seeds,..and those things are kind of healthy. But with cookies it's all about yumminess and for me this is it.
Collection of video clips filmed in Morocco This is a section of the road between Marrakech and Ourzazate in the Atlas Mountains on the north side of the Tizi n Tichka pass.. If you're heading from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert then this is one of the few driving routes heading south over the Atlas Mountains. Drive carefully!! You do not want to go off this road!!!
It’s Monday morning and I'm off to the desert. And not just any desert either. I’m off to the Sahara Desert and I'm excited, very excited. Seeing the desert was one of the main purposes of this trip to Morocco and now I'm on my way. I met my driver and his younger brother just after breakfast and we hit the N9 highway heading south. The N9 highway first crosses a flat expanse of featureless, barren rocky land before snaking up through the Anti-Atlas Mountains. It then follows the Draa River valley south to Zagora and ends in M’Hamid on the edge of the Sahara
Ahhh. Shepherd's Pie. I'm not sure why but I've always had a thing for Shepherd's Pie. It could be how filing it is or it could just remind me of my childhood. This is the recipe I've been making for awhile now.
If I ever ask my son what I should make for supper, chances are he will say "Tuna Casserole" which is fine by me. It's incredibly easy to whip up and it makes a great lunch leftover meal the next day. I think the Pineapples are what really makes it taste so good.
One of my favorite meals,..Maple Curry Chicken. I first made this years ago to impress my future wife. After a room-mate intervention to remind me of the difference between cloves of Garlic and bulbs of Garlic, the meal was a success. Since then it's been one of my staples. I usually make quite a bit at one time so I have lots of left-overs for work and sometimes I freeze some.
I've had this latest herd of Red Wriggler composting worms for about a year but really haven't been keeping up with their health and safety. Basically I had been feeding them and then forgetting about them for long periods of time.
On the weekends I make breakfast a lot and I've found that pancakes with fruit is always a popular choice. This week I had frozen Strawberries and a Banana on hand. This recipe makes 12 normal size pancakes plus 1 extra giant size pancake for me.
After a solid sleep I woke early and hit the hotel cafe area for a complimentary breakfast that was small and unsatisfying. I tend to have a big breakfast while in Canada and I miss that while traveling. By 8AM I say goodbye to Hotel Toulaine and head off to find a Grand Taxi over the mountains to Ouarzazate where I'll plan to stay for the night before heading further south to M'Hamid.
